Alfred Phelps

Alfred was the oldest and, at least in his own mind, the most sensible of the Phelps children. Growing up in Diagon Alley, the children were constantly introduced to new and magical experiences, and Alfred took it upon himself to make sure that his younger siblings stayed safe. This, however, didn’t mean he always stayed out of trouble. His father gave him a real whooping after the time Alfred managed to sneak into Eeylops Owl Emporium and somehow made all the snowy owls’ feathers turn pink.

During his school years his magic went stranger, and he found himself having a hard time controlling it. For the first three years of his time at Hogwarts he lost more points for Hufflepuff than he’d ever care to admit. But then he started getting the hang of it. Yes, accidents still happened around him, but he got very good at reversing the effect and hiding his mistakes.

After school he came back to his parents shop in Carkitt Market, and helped them with their job, but Alfred found himself bored with the task. It wasn’t until his old house-mate Jasper Branstone, who was at the time working at the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, to come work for the Ministry, and so Alfred was drafted into the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. His parents were sceptical when he first told them, but he proved them wrong.

He met his wife Winifred during one of his missions. Her brother Walter had accidentally shrunk the neighbours, and Alfred almost wasn’t able to do his job for staring at Winifred throughout the ordeal. Alfred proposed the next day, and the couple moved into a house in Whitechapel, where they had two children.
